Couchmans pioneers offering to lifestyle sector


Leading sports law firm Couchmans is pleased to announce that it has launched a new website and corporate identity (, and in parallel is extending its service offering into the Tech, Media and Lifestyle sectors.

Chairman Nic Couchman commented: “Since we set up in 2001 we have always been active in the media and technology spheres, principally around our core sector focus of sport. In recent years we have very naturally diversified into the lifestyle sector.”

Why are we also focusing on “Lifestyle”?

The lifestyle industry is a natural fit for us as a commercially minded, IP centric law firm with a strong background in sport. We have worked with growth brands, properties and celebrities in the international sports space for years, and the advice requirements of lifestyle brands have been very similar, whether that’s in relation to brand strategy, IP, commercial contracts, data protection, corporate advice, sponsorship or talent endorsements. Our immersion in sports IP and content has given us expert and transferable skills relevant to clients in Lifestyle, whether they are mass participation sport or fitness event owners, wearable tech companies, performance apparel brands, fitness clubs, or in the wellness, food, nutrition, travel or adventure arenas.

What is the link between sports and lifestyle?

Lifestyle brands actually have many similarities to sports clients – they often have communities of consumers who follow them, like sports fans, and who become passionately engaged. Lifestyle brands increasingly produce their own experiential events and content. They deploy social media, endorsements and influencers to reach and grow their audiences. Just as we have done for sports, we can really help clients in the burgeoning lifestyle sector to capture the value in their niches in ways which go beyond what clients would ever usually expect from their lawyers.
